V - AMSTERDAM OUD-ZUID INTRODUCTION

The largest city park in Amsterdam, the Vondelpark, is also in the Oud-Zuid neighbourhood. This park can be a complete holiday destination in itself! It is so large that it takes nearly half an hour to bike through its length. At the park you can see locals and tourists walking, biking or skating, playing or simply lazing. Its hosts an open air theatre where concerts are held during the summers. The park also hosts a film museum and offers six play areas for children where sometimes the film museums offer performances for kids.

Right near the Vondelpark, within walking distance of the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum, is one of the most luxurious shopping streets of Amsterdam, the P.C. Hooftstraat with its rich share of haute couture boutiques and stores.

Other sights you can visit while in this neighbourhood are the Egyptian Coptic Church as well as the Tram Museum. This museum is special in that it offers rides in vintage cars instead of just displaying them. The tram has several stops from where you can visit attractions along the "Amsterdam Forest".
