The Netherlands
Railways (NS, that is how you will usually find them written everywhere) are one
of the most efficient transport systems in Europe, with an outstanding service
that guarantees punctuality on arriving and departing, clean conditions, frequent
services and the chance of reaching practically any village in Holland.
With
a direct express train from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to the main urban centres
in Holland and some from Belgium, the NS provides departures every half hour,
though on some busy days they can get to four to six per hour. During the night,
there are hourly departures between Utrecht, Amsterdam, Schiphol, The Hague and
Rotterdam.
NS also offers international
connections from Schiphol Airport to cities in Germany and Belgium. There is also
an Intercity IC network that connects the big cities: in this case, the trains
only stop at the major stations and then you can get a local train to reach smaller
villages.
