Swimming
in Amsterdam:
The opening
times of both indoor and outdoor pools in Amsterdam vary hugely,
with hours set aside for various groups, including women, babies,
toddlers and those who like to swim nude. While it's best to phone
ahead, most pools set aside lanes for swimming lengths in the early
morning, mid-afternoon and evening. Look in the Amsterdam Yellow
Pages under 'Zwembaden' for a full list of pools.

As well as a 25m indoor pool with water slides and a whirlpool,
Marnixbad also boasts a sauna.

Mirandabad
(indoor & outdoor)
The only sub-tropical pool in Amsterdam, De Mirandabad is very clean,
with a stone beach and a wave machine. It's not good for swimming
lengths, but there's fun to be had on the waterslide and in the
whirlpool and outdoor pool. There's also squash courts here, and
a restaurant if you get peckish.

Zuiderbad
(indoor)
One of the country's oldest pools, the Zuiderbad was built in 1912.
Exhibitionists should note that there's nude swimming on Sundays,
4-5pm.
