most buildings in the city centre have
steps like that...

The guy who checked us in was very helpful even carried our bags up the really steep stairs!The room was a bit on the small side for 3 people but it was OK as we didnt spend much time there!

We left early ,about 7.30am, so there wasnt anybody present to check us out and we just left our room key at the desk.

Small rooms VERY steep stairs but friendly staff and door staff who made us feel safe.The hotel is very well located right in the middle of things near to all the attractions , good restaurants pubs and a cool club(Escape) right on your doorstep and good value for money.

Great place to stay when visiting amsterdam and wanting to experience the night life and visit all the attractions. It is very well situated and within walking distance to everywhere you would want to go. Staff were very helpful and friendly and we would definitely go back to stay there next time we visit Amsterdam.

They are in the process of making a restaurant where the bar used to be. The restaurant will be beautiful from what I was able to see and I'm looking forward to coming back and enjoying the new services.

Very interesting! In the middle of the city and easy to use public transportation or walk around the town. Very lively at night. They were shooting a movie outside the hotel when I was there.

The room was supposed to be rady for check-in at 1 am, but we had to wait an hour because it wasn't ready.

There was no internet point as promised, and the TV didn't work cause the cable 'popped' out, the remote-control didn't work either and there was no fridge in the room.

The bathroom was nice and clean and the shower was very good, but the carpet in the bedroom was covered in stains and the room stank of stale smoke when we arrived. I have to say that the beds were very comfortable indeed but there is a very loud bar in the ground floor of the hotel, the music of which was so loud I couldn't sleep, and as we were on the top floor I dread to think what others below us were thinking. The wall between our room and the next door room was also very thin to the point that we could hear conversations being held!

Actually, we arrived a lot earlier before the check-in, at about 7 AM instead of 1 PM. We wanted to leave our bag at the reception but the door was locked, and no one opened the door to us after we rang several times, so we had to wait 20 minutes close to the hotel till a person came out. After that we could leave our bag and check in at 1 PM in a proper way.

I would say, it was a lot noisier than I expected. It was very well heard of what was going on in the corridor, in the next room and in the bar, since the loud music was on practically the whole night. I would hardly recommend this property for a family stay, better just for some youngsters, who don't want any rest but mostly fun.

The hotel politely agreed to keep my luggage before check in time, however the suitcase was kept in the looby, at open space and not in a locked room/locker

The only thing which really disturbed that the doors were not sound proof and the guests in other rooms make a lot of noise late in the night and hotel administation did not try to stop them

If you want to pay with credit card you have to pay an additional fee. We've never heard that before! And we payed a lot of hotel-bills in different countries per credit card...

We asked if we could see the room before we paid.The receptionist answerd that we had to pay anyway and we thought that she was fairly poite.

The Thorbeck Hotel is very nice located BUT there is a bar in the bottom of the house. The music didnīt stop before 05.30 so if you are sensitive for sounds itīs not so nice.

You get what you pay for! Itīs a good place to stay at if you travel with friends but I would not recommende this hotel if you travel with your lover. The location is very good! The breakfast was ok.

Staff were helpful, but a bit disorganised. Breakfast had MTV blaring out, breakfast small and poorly served. Room was of good size, but carpets and walls were dirty. At this price better expected.

At breakfast the music channel on tv was blasting out and the only person interested in it was the receptionist.
People wanted to talk at breakfast but the tv made conversation impossible.
We were all supposed to get a welcome drink but the bar was closed.
