Yamazato Restaurant - A traditional Japanese restaurant with a Sushi Bar Japanese à la carte restaurant Yamazato is a popular venue in Amsterdam for savouring traditional Japanese food. More than 50 Japanese specialities are prepared by the skilful hands of Executive Chef Akira Oshima, who has gained much experience from many years in the field, including eight years at the famous restaurant Tsurya in Osaka, Japan. When he came to the Netherlands in 1971, he had only one desire: to acquaint as many Dutch people and other Europeans as possible with Japanese cuisine. Authentic Japanese cuisine that is, because Oshima insists on honouring traditional cultural values. Chef Oshima is well aware of the importance of high-quality fresh ingredients and the presentation of the dishes in Japanese cuisine. Various menus offer selections of traditional delicacies to suit every palate. The à la carte menu features popular dishes such as Tempura, Shabu-Shabu, Sukiyaki, Yaki-tori and many others. A large variety of the freshest Sushi and Sashimi is available and may also be selected individually at the Sushi counter. The Yamazato Restaurant includes seven private rooms, one of which has a tatami-matted floor. These rooms are ideal venues for private business luncheons and dinners as well as private sit-down parties celebrating special occasions. Okura Amsterdam was the first hotel in the Netherlands to offer its guests a traditional Japanese breakfast. This is served in Le Camelia Brasserie every morning from 07.30 till 09.30. Under supervision of our Japanese Chef, kitchen staff prepare two different breakfast menus. Japanese breakfast has to be ordered in advance, for a minimum of ten persons.
TeppanYaki Restaurant Sazanka - Japanese dishes prepared à la minute right before your eyes TeppanYaki means "grilled on the hot plate". In Japan this is probably the oldest method of cooking food, invented when the Japanese grilled their unskinned fish on a shovel above an open fire. Slowly, this evolved into the sophisticated Teppan grill that we know today. TeppanYaki may therefore not be authentic, but it is definitely a time-honoured tradition. In TeppanYaki Restaurant Sazanka one can experience this original way of cooking and try the most delicious steaks, fish and vegetables. There are 11 Teppan grills, which can accommodate seven to ten persons each and which are ideal for small private parties and celebrations. There is also a private room, which can be used for slightly larger occasions. With the guests sitting around a large, hot iron plate, the Teppan Chef prepares whatever one chooses from the menu on the spot, from fresh scampi to chateaubriand as well as a wide selection of fresh vegetables. Not only is the food fingerlickingly delicious, the Chef's enthusiastic performance is guaranteed to steal the show. |
Ciel Bleu Restaurant - The innovation of 'haute cuisine' and a breathtaking view over Amsterdam Amsterdam - Europe's scintillating business, culture and entertainment centre - has added another treasure to its surprisingly large number of restaurants: Ciel Bleu. Located on the top floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, this French restaurant invites you to enjoy a lustrous new decor, exquisite cuisine and a breathtaking view of Amsterdam. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant underwent a stunning transformation in August 1995. As this French restaurant towers high above Amsterdam, it was only appropriate that its decor should reflect its name, "The Blue Sky". The ceiling paintings of the adjoining bar represent the dusk and the fusion of day and night, the time when the bar begins to welcome its guests. The unique and splendid views of Amsterdam from this restaurant on the 23rd floor are further emphasized by the frames of the large windows, which give a picture-frame effect to the panoramic view of the city. The Ciel Bleu offers seating for up to 76 guests, 56 of which can be seated in the main restaurant and 20 in the two elegant private rooms, Salon Panoramique and Salon des Etoiles. These rooms are perfect for private or business dinners.
Le Camelia Brasserie - Dutch and European specialities Situated on the ground floor of the Hotel is Okura's Brasserie Le Camelia, which takes its name from a wonderfully fragrant exotic flower, the camelia. Its atmosphere is reminiscent of a Parisian art-deco brasserie, while the kitchen staff, under the watchful eye of the Executive Chef, Ronald Oud, are ready and waiting to delight guests with culinary creations of the highest quality. Le Camelia, which is open daily, does not only serve an exclusive breakfast buffet, but also combines Dutch and European cuisine (English, French, Spanish and Italian) in light lunches and extensive dinners as well as weekly specials. Le Camelia is not only ideal for intimate occasions, but also for meetings and parties. Le Camelia is one of the first restaurants to use induction cooking, a new method of preparation in which an electric field over the ceramic hotplate heats the iron molecules of the pan. |
La Serre Bar & Ciel Bleu Bar The two bars of Hotel Okura are popular locations for business and informal get-togethers. Their cosy, warm interiors welcome all guests. The La Serre Lobby Bar has been completely renovated and now has a conservatory, with a ceiling-high glass wall separating the bar from the Amstel Canal. The bar was designed by D. Arnaud of Paris. In charge of its construction was Y. Ishi from the Parisian Takashimaya Corp. French accents are clearly visible in La Serre: the elegant rattan chairs in the veranda-like part, the pastel-tinted and comfortable sofas and fauteuils for small as well as larger groups of up to 58 persons. The bar itself is shaped like a semicircle and has a one-piece stainless-steel top. The bar seats 12 persons. On the 23rd floor is the Ciel Bleu Bar, a cosy and elegant lounge adjacent to the Ciel Bleu Restaurant. At its height of 75 meters one enjoys a spectacular view of Amsterdam. Both bars have an extensive drinks list, with a wide selection of international and local liquor, liqueurs, wines and cocktails, and offer a complete range of snacks and nibbles. Both bars are ideal for an aperitif, after-dinner drinks or an informal rendezvous or business meeting.
