Charming owners, host and hostess, made us feel immediately at home. ... Very beautiful and olde world. Large comfy chairs in room, overlooking lush, flowered courtyard, great TV. We're going to stay longer next time. ... Charming, comfortable, you have the run of the public rooms and inner courtyard, accommodating, we loved it!

A quiet, well kept Bed and breakfast within 15 minutes walking distance of the centre of Amsteram. Within 10 minutes of the beautiful Vondelspark and the Museum district. With very friendly staff and good facilities, I would highly recommend the Hotel De Munck.

Very pleasant and helpful staff who offered a welcoming pot of tea on arrival! ... Stairs very steep from reception to rooms which, whilst not a problem for me, could prove to be a difficulty for less able visitors. ... Final account prepared and professionally presented. ... I believe all details are covered on the web site. ... A small friendly typical style hotel well situated in Amsterdam for museums, galleries, shops, trams etc. offering pleasant, warm rooms. Family feel, with a fun 50s style breakfast room.

My ONLY negative comment is that I arrived in the morning jetlagged, with a cold, and desparately needed to rest. However the heat was turned off in the hotel until 5 PM. Room was very cold. ... Very friendly staff.

Great location - quiet, but within pleasant strolling distance of key destinations such as the Museumplein and the city centre. The useful tram stop on Prinsengracht was just a couple of minutes away. We regarded the hotel as a real home from home and a sanctuary from the main tourist drag.It was simply furnished but very clean and comfortable. Our host was very helpful and keyed into our requirements and interests. The atmosphere was calm and friendly. We're looking forward to going again.

Accommodation was great, the ensuites were very small but okay and clean. One of the bedroom had twins bed the vouchers said both rooms would have double beds. ... Great! Good location for staying in Amsterdam, away from main tourist areas but close enough to them. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, close to tram lines, but within easy walking distance of many attractions. Hosts were lovely and willing to see to anything that needed to be done and help organise outings that we wanted to go on.

we had the reservation for 12 people: 1 room of 4 people with an extra bed, 1 room of 6 people with an extra bed. One of us wasn't at amsterdam, the rate for his extra-bed was payed anyhow. ... The hotel is clean, spacious, but quite far from center.

Whilst we enjoyed or stay I would say that this hotel would qualify better as a Bed & Breakfast as there were no lounges or communal recreation areas within the hotel. Also, to be able to make yourself, or order some tea or coffee in the evening would be nice
Regards Marie Coughlan ... A delightful and eccentric experience! The stairs give you an authentic taste of amsterdam living. Felt like we were on holidays with the mad relatives. Music was GREAT!!!!

This was a lovely hotel. The owner was so sweet and accommodating. I was traveling with my friend and infant daughter. He took care of us from check-in to check-out. The breakfast was well prepared and complete. The quiet neighborhood, only steps away from the tram, is perfect for a family with an elementary school playground across the street and food shops and restaurants nearby. Our stay at Hotel de Munck was a pleasant part of our visit to Amsterdam.

On arrival our room turned out to be slightly smaller than we had anticipated, but we were graciously moved to another, which was larger and very comfortable. ... We enjoyed our stay at the De Munck: it is in a wonderfully peaceful environment, although close to the tram and many sights and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the owner is accommodating and suggested tours we might enjoy. Thanks very much. ... We had to be at the airport at 7am; the owner booked a taxi for us. It was expensive, but worth all that agony of dragging suitcases onto the trams, then onto a train and into the airport. ... Peaceful, central, comfortable.

Close to the action, but expect difficulties parking if you drive

... The Hotel had a lot of character and wasn't expensive. These were the main reasons for picking choosing it. The staff were extremely helpful, which was a bonus. The only niggle was at 10am in the morning before leaving for the day, the cleaner would knock to clean the room. We would usually say no for them to come in but expected the room to be cleaned by the time we got back at the end of the day. We had three days worth of rubbish in the bins.
... It should be made very clear when booking that if you have a room on 2nd floor or above, that the stairs are extremely steep. I took my mother who is 65 and she found the stairs quite difficult to climb.
... Alot of character, very friendly and helpful, basic lodgings & inexpensive.

Although located quiet spot and close to attractions the room itself was not as comfortable as expected. The mattresses were old causing a poor night's rest and a back ache the following morning. We could hear foot steps and the floor board creaking from the guest room above. Luckily they returned late and so we only heard their voices for a short time before they fell asleep. ... Definately a great rate for the coziness and location of the hotel. ... A cozy and clean hotel with a nice staff. The breakfast is light and the coffee strong to get a jump start for all the walking. But we could hear footsteps and voices from upstair guests in our room. The mattresses were also very old and lumpy. We didn't sleep very well and I had an achy back in the morning.

Good location, affordable, very small rooms, but fine for traveling adults.

We had to ring the doorbell to get in the hotel, that`s a bit unlike what we are used to, but I expect it`s for security reasons. It was a bit heavy to 'climb' the narrow steps up to our room with our suitcases. Anyway - we had a friendly welcome! ... The little time we spend in the hotel was just fine. The room was not big but clean. And the hotel were located in a very quiet street - which suited us very well. ... We organized check out the day before, because we had to depart very early in the morning. We did not get any information what to do with the key, so we just left it in the reception (on a chair).
... Very small hotel, located in a very quiet street, but only 10 minutes walk from the Rembrandtplein. Nice staff, ok breakfast. The rooms were small but clean. Narrow stairs up to the room. We had to go outside to get into the breakfast room. All in a friendly hotel.

The hotel was a very simple room with two two beds and a shared toilet with the other room. ... The room we had was basic. ... There are two sections to the hotel. One section is above the reception area and seemed to be better accommodations. The room we had was next door, up a separate stairway and seemed very basic. ... Simple. It was basic, but quite and clean.

It was all we required for staying for a stag weekend. however, the host was often rude to us. Didnt stay in the hotel too long as it was just a place to sleep and wash. Thats exectly what we got, nothing more nothing less. BASIL FAWLTY LIVES!!! ... The bill had came to 1600 euro for 17 of us so we paid 100 each on arrival leaving 100 euro tip for him. however, he still had the nerve to charge 5 euro's for each door key that wasnt handed in when we were leaving! ... Small, but handy enough for a group of fella's. Definitely not recommended for a couple/family stay

when we arrived, instead of been shown up to our room, we were escorted outside and into what seemed like an out building. Albeit this was classed as room 18, there was 2 seperate beds when we ordered a double which disappointed us deeply. My girlfriend had been really poorly over the festive period and I promised her that we would have a lovely room which if we didn't decide to stay out, at least the room would be smart. ... Terrible, as we did to all our friends and family when we returned.

It's a good hotel with good location. I have to compalin, though, that the room amenity was poor: during our 3 nights' stay there, they didn't change the towels and soap on for the 2nd nigiht, and they took all the towels away for the 3rd night. I wonder if the changing of the towels everyday is not their custom.

Parking is a real problem in Amsterdam. I was told that I could use long term parking that was 10 minutes away. I assumed that it was a 10 minute walk but it was actually a 10 minute train ride. So. I parked on the street for 32 Euro per day and had my car broken in to. ... For the price, the hotel was quite okay ... Inform customers of the parking problems ... Good value

Seemed shabby - in need of paint, updating, replacement of worn/outdated items, etc. ... shabby, (needed paint, plastic items yellowed with age). Mattresses were old/not very comfortable. Breakfast was provided but was very plain. It was by far the least appetizing breakfast we had on our entire trip. Decor in breakfast area was faded/shabby looking. Staff was polite and helpful, but we were disappointed with the overall quality.
