Nice folks at the reception, the Hotel is situated at a real hot spot but its comfort was poor; we compared it with a youth-hostel.But so what:we felt young again and our son (15 years old )liked it very much.

I arrived a few hours earlier than the stated check-in time, but was offered a room immediately. ... I have stayed here previously with my wife, this time I booked a few workmates in under my name, and another couple of friends were also staying in the hotel under my recommendation, so I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Doria in future. ... No problems at all with checking out.

When I asked for matches, they had none. The receptionist ran across the street to get a disposable lighter for me. ... Very neat and clean. The smallest room I've ever stayed in, but that was my first stay in Amsterdam.

Receptionist gave a very helpful orientation to Amsterdam sights. I used his information many times over the three days I was in Amsterdam. ... Clean room and helpful desk staff. Room was small and on top floor. Would be difficult to reach for someone out of shape or with a walking impairment. ... I would recommend the Doria for someone looking for clean, basic accommodations in a centrally located region of Amsterdam. I would stay there again.

Booked 3 days but only actually required a stay of 2 & 3/4 days. The receptionist kindly gave me a discount which I did not expect. ... The bathroom was small but adequate and clean as was the bedding. The interior decorations and furnishings were very run down but for the budget traveller wanting B&B it was ok. Breakfast was very good. ... None ... The lift is old fashioned and does not have an interior door which can be dangerous and not suitable for children. ... A bit of a dump, but what needed to be clean was, breakfast was nice an the saff mostly polite and friendly. Hotel ok if all you are wanting is a bed, bathroom and a bite to eat

Room was the size of a broom cupboard with a six inch wide window; but this is typical for Amsterdam in this price range.
Also, they don't accept paying with plastic unless you are prepared to pay a large surcharge - this was not made clear on booking.

The rooms are very small but it is the problem in Amsterdam for this price. Also I'm happy ... Very good place to visit Amsterdam, also with tram or bus... no far away from the station... we can go walking... and very near Dam Place. The rooms are very small in back and there is no view (a wall). It's better on street but there is a little noise of a street with many people night and day. It's a good place for the prices of the hotel in Amsterdam. But I prefer Rambrandt plein or Leidsester plein... for the animation. I think it is not the same price !!! It is a 2 stars hotel and not a 3 stars hotel

Very small room. ... The hotel was fine, clean and in the heart of Amsterdam. There was a Pizzeria where I had a 10% discount. The only bad thing was that the room was tiny, very small! But I had my own toilet and shower which was good.

The room was pretty clean. It was so small and very plain. The worst was the fact that is was so hot and noisy. The different receptionists were very pleasant and nice. But I would not stay there again. There was an old fan in the room. A light was out.

Rooms are small; very noisy on street side; uncomfortable bed; linen, blankets stained; bathroom, however, though small, was clean and shower good; toilet has hardly any room for legs when sitting. ... I don't think in this day and age that there should be a 2% surcharge for using a credit card when paying for the room. ... From my experience, I do not think that the hotel deserves three stars--one star perhaps. It was the worst three star hotel I've ever stayed in. ... Small room and bathroom; uncomfortable beds--linens, blankets stained; small bathroom with shower only, however, was clean; rooms extremely noisy on street side. Breakfast is very good however and location is central. Doesn't deserve three stars.
