The receptionist was very helpful in enabling us to make a telephone call to someone we met in Holland in 1981 and with whom we have exchanged Christmas greetings ever since.

EXCELLENT LOCATION -in walking distance to most of the museums -places of attraction- very nice personnel-always a warm welcome -spacious room It was a very pleasent stay and I recommend this hotel to everyone by heart.

As stated, Tram lines 1,2, and 5 from Amsterdam Central Station stop right in front of the hotel. Couldn't be easier.

Quality of the rooms (in the new section) exceeded expectations, once we found them (bit of a circuitous route from the elevator, but easy once learned). Excellent breakfast buffet. Great location.

We had a delayed flight from Australia and arrived at 05:00 on the Tuesday instead of late Sunday. I had phoned to advise them.
We received a great welcome and looked after during that day to ensure we were rested etc. Then directed to a very nice restaurant a short walk away where we had an excellent meal.

The room allocated was the one selected off the website which overlooked the canal. My wife loved the room.
The staff made tour bookings for us and their recommendations were good.

Considering I was was taken by ambulance at 02:00 to a hospital with a gall stone problem their attention was excellent. We were able to leave on time but I am sure they would have looked after my wife if I had had to stay in hospital.
Incidentally the attention at the University Hospital could not have been better.

Extremely welcoming staff who were very helpful and fluent in English which helped us. We were able to leave our case until we booked in later in the day.

We were disappointed in the selection of food available on the set 3 course meal. ie. there was only 3 items, a starter, main and sweet which consisted of Fish soup followed by Fish main course and a sweet.I would also have liked the availability of a rubber bath mat as I slipped in the bath/shower when taking a shower.

The included breakfast was devine. A spread of cold cuts, cheeses, breads, cereal and eggs you can cook yourself! Our entire family consisting of two parents, a 13 year old girl and a 10 year old son were all impressed and satisfied. A hearty way to start the day.

Located perfectly, within walking distance, with kids, of Anne Frank House, the Mint, the Palace, the Dam. Lovely bar downstairs to have a cocktail before retiring for thwe evening.

Some thoughts:
*a lot of stairs (hard to cope with if you,
like me, have a bad knee)- I was asuming
that the room would be directly accessible
by the elevator
*yes, the hotel had internet, but it was not
for free. Not so nice if you pay a lot
anyway.
*there was a fan in my room that went on for
15 minutes after the toilet was closed, a
lot of noise!

The reception area was not up four star standard.
The lift did not always function not for mechanical reasons but as the doors did not automatically close they were sonmetime left open.

Our stay was pleasant and comfortable. The breakfast was abundant and wholesome. The person in charge of breakfast was polite and efficient although not friendly. I am sure this was due to stress caused by overwork. On one occasion some guests had to wait to be seated. The person was visibly nervous and spoke sharply to another guest who did not understand English and was becoming impatient as her order (hot milk) was not forthcoming. I feel the person in charge could have made a bigger effort to communicate with the guest.

We had an uncomfortable wait in the lobby as there were several people checking out at the same time. However the staff were friendly and helpful and coped well in cramped space.
