Helpful and understanding of our needs. ... Clean and comfortable ... Looked after our suitcases after we checked out until we had to go to the airport ... Basic and cheap but perfectly clean and comfortable. Excellent location in relation to Dam Square. Very easy to find from Dam Square - one straight road off Dam Square turns into Haartenstraat and the Hotel Belga after about 3 mins walking. Also, due to this location it is quiet enough at night to sleep yet close enough to the action when you need it.

We encountered a very knowledgable, accomdating and friendly receptionist re. the facility and restaurants etc. The stairway to upstairs is very narrow and steep, so we (65 and 75 years old) were glad to have left all our luggage at the lockers at the train station, except neccessities since we stayed only one night and this was our first stop of a 4 week trip. ... The self-service breakfast was good and the storefront room with a pleasant Amsterdam mural was a comfortable space. The bed and breakfast location was near everything and Amsterdam is such a walkable city. We enjoyed exploring the individual non-chain stores on our street and in the 9th district eluminated by Christmas lights. Of course everyone speeks English, even the occasional beggar on the the street.
... Explain the stairway setting and that luggage might be storable on the entry level? ... See comments above. The access to common bathrooms and shower was easy and near. The sink in the bedroom was very welcomed. ' You get a nice feel for the interior of a historic Amsterdam houseit's limitations and possibilities

It was late when we arrived in from the airport and we were greeted very warmly. ... The breakfast system was great, really wonderful rooms, we actually had an attic up the very top and even though it was difficult to carry our bags up there, it was so cosy and quaint that I wouldn't have had it any other way. I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Belga. ... Staff were friendly and wished us the best and said to come again and stay next time we visit Amsterdam, which we will. ... Quaint, relaxed feel. Friendly staff with alot of time for you.

The location of Belga is absolutely ideal. It is central, perfect for people who explore cities by foot. ... We felt very at home at Belga. The general ambience is rustic and that should be made clearer on the website. The attraction of Belga is its rough edges - it is homely. Not your typically clinical hotel. ... I would recommend it to anyone who is seeking accomodation that: is value for money, is centrally located, has a rustic and homely ambience.

There is nothing luxurious about Hotel Belga, and it is certainly not part of the Amsterdam trend towards 'Designer' hotels. But it is clean, comfortable, a good value, and the location is absolutely fantastic. ... Check out was easy. Less then 2 minutes and we were done. ... Fantastic location, good value for money. Not fancy, but a typical Amsterdam tourist hotel.

Friendly welcome, tiny but clean room ... A bit noisy, but because of the neighbor in the next room. Very pleasant and quiet street. Generous breakfast buffet. Tiny single room, but enough for a two-nights stay. ... Nice and quiet place, nice persons, friendly atmosphere. Tiny but clean rooms. At a few steps from the heart of the old city.

In fact, we have got a Triple, not a Quadruple room as expected. One bed was placed there additionally and therefore the room was small and we vere a bit squeezed. But otherwise the hotel is splendid and we were very satisfied.
... Hotel especially for youg people. ... Friendly, cosy, very convenient.

Very friendly and helpful staff. ... We had some problems the first night with other very noisy guests. The staff responded to our wishes and asked those guests to respect other guests in the hotel. ... Very reasonable price. For people that value a clean place and somewhere to sleep between eplorations of Amsterdam treasures and surroundings.

Very friendly and took time to explain about local sights etc. ... A very basic hotel but a little 'tired' and in need of some redecoration but very clean. Breakfast was good and the staff were most helpful. I would stay again but if my wife was with me next time, I would prefer en-suite facilities. ... I had to check out very early in order to catch my flight and the staff prepared me sandwiches as I would miss breakfast. ... A deposit (refundable) is required for your door key. I was suprised to find that a deposit was also required for the TV remote control! I was a little disappointed to be surcharged for the use of my Visa card. ... A good, clean, basic hotel, ideal for a short stay and with VERY pleasant and helpful staff. However no eating facilities were available after breakfast, not even coffee. No tea/coffee facilities in bedroom.

Re question 8: Rooms were very clean, spacious and private. However those rooms overlooking the street are not quiet--undoubtedly a problem generally in centrally located hotels--not just the Belga. ... Re question 13: After our stay in Amsterdam, we travelled to Brussels and stayed in a comparable hotel (plus an elevator) and a comparable room for 74 euros, rather than the 95 at the Belga. We recognize the effect of market forces, but couldn't help but make the comparison. ... Didn't check the website before responding to this questionnaire, but nothing comes to mind. ... Wonderfully located; service very friendly and helpful; breakfast nourishing and plentiful; rooms basic, clean (except for the bedspreads which need replacement or repair).

Overall a very satisfactory time had. To be honest we were only in the room for a very short period. Sharing a double bed with a friend was a downside and unstated in the brochure. I would recommend Hotel Belga to groups of mates but not a girlfriend place!

Just a grief encounter with the front desk at check in, very nice and polite. ... First time in Amsterdam and with a shared bath setup. Room was small but very clean, love the neighborhood. The sounds of other guests returning late 0300-0500 in adjacent rooms and talking loudly in their rooms woke me up eariler that I'd planned, but not much the hotel can do about that I suppose. ... I had to leave before the front desk was open in the morning, I e-mailed a request for the return of EU 40 in cash key and hair dryer deposits. The hotel has sent me a response that they are mailing them back to me. ... Well situated and clean, friendly front desk, a bit loud depending on the other guests.
