Travellers Reviews

I found the staff to be very helpful, and they were prepared to answer whatever questions I had, not only about the property, but about transportation, museums, etc. ... The room was quite nice, as was the breakfast room; also, the food for breakfast was good (by European standards, of course. We Americans prefer bacon, fried eggs, etc...) ... The staff was quite helpful. They helped me arrange shuttle bus transport to the airport. ... Well, the only thing that was a concern was the location of the hotel. It's not quite as close to the van Gogh museum, for instance, as one would assume based on the website. Also, although tram # 2 is quite convenient, the fact that the trams stop running around midnight poses a bit of a problem. I understand that for advertising purposes, it might not be wise to point these things out, they came as a surprise to me and caused a bit of an inconvenience. ... I would say that the hotel was a modest but clean, well-run and pleasant place to say at a reasonable price.

We had to wait outside for quite som time and it was freezing. Then the receptionist wasn't polite at all. ... The prise we paid first was incorrect. But we got compensated when we checked out. ... It says that all taxed are included but that was not correct. But we didn't have to pay them.

Reception staff very impersonal and made no attempt to offer any information on transport into the city. No help was offered for suitcases etc (see comment below on stairs). Charge for 'city tax' despite reservation confirming 'all taxes included'. ... There were a lot of noisy guests in the hotel during our stay and the hotel made little effort to control this. ... The stairs can be a bit awkward especially if you are carrying suitcases. ... If you would like to stay in a hotel that offers an impersonal service then this would be it. Although the Apple Inn is referred to as a hotel it is really more like a bed and breakfast. The hotel is located about 20 minutes from the city by tram.

You might point out that the Inn is an 'older' building in the city and has a rather narrow stairway system. The building as a whole was charming and adequate, but for most tourists with luggage to carry, the stairs are a challenge. ... Very good accomodations in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of Amsterdam's museum district

Breakfast was very limited. I have never stayed in a hotel or B&B that did not offer a hot breakfast: sausage, bacon etc..
