Accommodation in Amsterdam

This part of the city is surrounded by romantic canals traversed by bridges dating back to the 16 th and 17th Century. It is a very lively area where you can find the world famous red light district and where there are always plenty of young people watching the exhibits or having some fun.

But in this part of the city there are also several place of tourist interest apart from the red light district and its coffee shops. Probably the most renowned is the Dam square, where the Royal Palace is located. This is a frenetic square where many tourists seat to rest their tired feet while they watch Amsterdam's life pass by.

This country boasts of the largest number of museums per square metre and in this neighbourhood you can visit the Museum Amstelkring located in the attic of a building situated in the red light district. Originally it was used as a hidden church when the Catholicism was forbidden, today it has become the second oldest museum in Amsterdam and here you can see exhibitions of religious and contemporary art.

Anna Frank museum is another place of interest hidden in the Binnenstad. What used to be the house of the Franks where Anna wrote her famous diary has become a museum as well. Every Saturday you can visit and enjoy the organic market on the Nieuwmarkt square, walk around the canals and visit the Oude Kerk, the oldest parish church in the city. (read more...)
